Arey operates in a novel category: proactive grey hair care. While interest is high, most customers aren’t ready to convert immediately. They need education, expectation-setting, and clarity about whether the product fits their needs. While ads helped spark interest, email was the key channel to deepen understanding and build trust.
Unfortunately, their previous popup tool, Amped, wasn’t up to the task. With a poor interface, limited A/B testing capabilities, and no real support, the tool was slowing down growth rather than accelerating it.

When landing on-site, customers were often curious but uninformed. Without a structured way to educate them at the point of signup, many left without taking action, or without fully understanding how Arey could help them.
Arey’s popup experience didn’t match the level of guidance the brand wanted to provide. They were trying to funnel complex customer journeys through static, one-size-fits-all popups.
Amped was also limiting Arey’s ability to grow. Running a simple A/B test took too much effort. Customization was hard, and without strong analytics, the team couldn’t see what was working and what wasn’t.

The switch from Amped was smooth, with Alia’s team handling everything (from setup to design tweaks) so the experience felt on-brand from day one. They stayed hands-on throughout, making sure Arey never had to chase support or guess what to test next.
Alia’s educational popups were designed to replicate the kind of conversation Arey might have with a customer in a one-on-one setting. Instead of front-loading the homepage with heavy messaging, the brand could now guide visitors through a contextual journey, addressing questions, building trust, and introducing products naturally.
The biggest shift came with A/B testing. Previously, testing was nearly impossible. With Alia, Arey could test different types of educational content and popup timings to determine what drove the most opt-ins and conversions with zero internal lift.
Quiz-style flows also played an important role. Alia’s built-in survey logic let Arey collect zero-party data upfront, like whether a customer had used grey-reversal products before or what their hair goals were.
This insight was immediately actionable within Klaviyo, enabling Arey to segment users based on where they were in their journey and serve follow-ups that felt personal, not generic.
